THE OVAL RACING EXPERIENCE 2004

THE OVAL RACING SPECTACULAR 2004

On Saturday 10th January 2004 at 6pm the Autosport International Live Action Arena at the NEC was filled to capacity by a crowd who were enthralled with action and nostalgic look back in time at the early days of oval racing.

There was a magnificent programme of racing from Hot Rods, Autograss, Superstox, V8 Stockcars and BRISCA F1 stockcars.

To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Stock Car Racing in Britain, THORA cars raced and Fred Parsons, the first English man to win a race appeared on stage. We even had the Pathe News coverage of the first stock car racing at New Cross in 1954.

The climax of the Spectacular was the appearance of Barry Lee and George Polley in their replica hot rods. Both Barry and George have clearly lost none of their enthusiasm for the sport.

Many thanks go to Spedeworth International for co-organising the evening.
